The Top Ten Fashion Essentials You Should Own to Avoid “I-have-nothing-to-wear-I-hate-everything” moment again.

Even if you don’t agree with needing these basics by 30 , we doubt most women would say no to owning a classic black blazer or  LBD that fit just right. After all, these essentials will be the foundation of your wardrobe, anchoring whatever crazy, amazing pieces you find along the way. In other words, once you tailor this list to your own needs, getting dressed in the morning gets so much easier.

And if you are anything like me, hopefully this should help you a bit.

This is a simple no-nonsense list that makes sense.

These are pieces of clothing that we can all wear, whatever our age. And isn’t that the important point- classic with a twist, something you can make your own.

We all want to look slick and stylish, so here are some of my essentials. And I have been inspired by Reiss this season, so I wanted to share some of my favourite pieces.

1.Basic White Shirt.

How could we live without this basic white shirt or two.  One in cotton and one in silk, to suit the seasons.

Build on your work wear staples with the white Ruben shirt by Reiss. The slim fitting silhouette work underneath knitwear and suiting alike and will make for a classic foundation to any smart look.

Made from pure silk and edged with a simple black trim, the white Monique top fuses classic, wearable style with something a little more trend driven. Wear it with black leather leggings and suede ankle boots to make a stylish transition from day to evening, and add a faux-fur stole for a touch of high glamour.

2. Trench coat

A trench coat is lightweight yet waterproof, structured yet comfortable, and a classic statement in any neutral colour. Pop this over just about anything
The classic beige trench coat from Burberry is the investment of a lifetime…. the blue chip of stocks… the one coat never to be without at home or on your travels.

The Somerset trench coat is a classic outerwear option and it comes in a neutral tiramisu hue that translates well between seasons. The perfect fusion of smart and casual style, it works both layered over classic tailoring for the office and more casual separates off duty.

3.Black Pumps

This perennial fashion favourite has withstood the test of time because it is the go-to shoe for day or night, jeans or trousers or skirts, dressy occasions or more casual events. Whether perfectly plain or adorned with a subtle pattern, a pair of black pumps adds polish to any outfit.

The drop dead, sexy, high heel classic black heels. Wearing high heels is like therapy… as soon as you put them on you feel stronger and more confident…Remember Cinderella… her glass slipper is testament to that.

As for the aching feet and pinched toes…feeling good about ourselves is not always easy….a little pain for a lot of gain.

Heels, whatever any one will tell you, are more flattering than flats any day of the week. Wear them selectively, for short bursts of time, get in training…but never give in…. they really are our friends. Anything that can make my legs look longer and slimmer and my ankles narrower is a miracle and that has to be counted as true friendship.

Part of the Reiss Premium collection and designed with an intricate laser-cut pattern, the black suede Dayton shoes have been designed with the details in mind. Wear them as you would any other classic point-toe heels but let them bring a little extra detail to your look.

4. The Perfect Black Blazer

Even if you do not work in prim and proper office, every woman should have at least one  Black Blazer, that fits her perfectly and compliment her silhouette.

The black blazer or ‘le smoking’ jacket made famous by YSL back in the day. Every girly cupboard needs a black blazer.

Wear it open by day or by night, with you favourite pair of jeans or sexy LBD ,no wasted hours planning the perfect outfit, trying on all those clothes that never worked the first time and still don’t cut it, this is the happy fall back position.

Sharply tailored or cut to a mannish, oversized silhouette, this season’s blazers for women will cut a commanding figure. Style them around the clock for a head-on approach to power dressing.

Embrace a contemporary take on black tie dressing  or casual girls lunch out outfit ,with the black Rocco blazer. It’s tailored to a sharp, double-breasted silhouette and has contrasting black point lapels that add fashion-focussed flair. Team it with the coordinating trousers to make a real impact come party season.

5.The perfect Little Black Dress ,the LBD

The little black dress really should be number 1, because who can live without it. Not me. Wear it on any continent for any occasion. The LBD is not a dress to stop at one, but make sure your first, like all firsts, is memorable and something that makes you smile.

A classic, form-fitting silhouette is given a contemporary makeover in the form of the Rowane black dress which fuses a flattering shape with design-led sheer sleeve detailing. Pair this little black dress with black stiletto heels and an embellished clutch for chic evening style.

5. Cashmere

Grey, soft and long sleeved, classic, round or V-neck. Let’s be greedy here and include a black, navy and cream sweater as well. Cashmere is all about feeling the luxury, the warmth and the comfort. Cashmere is everywhere and many brands are excellent.

Knitwear is a winter classic and  jumpers from Reiss are spun from the softest wool and cashmere yarns for an impeccably lux finish. From cardigans to sweaters, invest wisely to set the tone for a season in style.

I am a very big fan of Polo necks. I can not get enough of them .This one ticks all the boxes for me this season. As you probably noticed, I am into green this season 🙂

This season’s focus on luxe fabrications becomes all the more approachable when translated to knitwear and the racing-green Daveen jumper is a case in point. It’s spun from pure cashmere to a roll-neck silhouette and has an abstract dipped hemline that adds contemporary appeal. Wear it with leather biker leggings and suede boots for an elegant off-duty look.

6.Black Pants

A sleek pair of black trousers with a flattering fit not only transcends trends, it is a master of multitasking. Without question, black pants are one of the few wardrobe staples that you can wear with just about anything else in your closet.

Tailored, skinny, cropped , leather or not, you must have a pair of black trousers that fits you perfectly.

The black Rocco trousers are inspired by traditional tuxedo-style dressing. They’re tailored to a slim fit with a contrasting black satin waistband and they have a classic hook and zip fastening. Wear them with a black cami and the coordinating Rocco blazer for a polished cocktail look.

The Darcie trousers are crafted from premium-quality black leather to a skinny fit and they feature the five-pocket design that’s typically associated with jeans, so they’re flattering and easy to wear. Style them with an oversized knit and heels in the day or dress them up with silk shirting for more elegant affairs.

7.Evening Clutch

While a daytime bag feels a bit cumbersome during evening festivities, you still need an option for night-time that’s big enough to hold your essentials. This one has room for your cell phone, cash, keys, and lipstick (yes, an essential). And it features a stowaway chain strap for those times when you’d prefer to have your purse hanging from your wrist or shoulder—making it much easier to hang on to your cocktail.

Clutch bags are designed to offset after-dark looks in the most elegant way. Perfect with everything from a tuxedo to a floor-sweeping gown, these are evening bags with style.

Beautifully crafted from soft suede in a rich ocean-blue hue, the Beau clutch is an elegant choice for evening. It’s complex design means there’s a space for everything, with it’s dual compartments, fold-over design and optional shoulder strap, and the softly knotted front feature adds an element of detail.

8. Jeans
The favourite piece of clothing, not my favourite, but even I have several pairs….According to the French stylists they must be faded and straight. I love the ‘skinnies’ too.

Denim is forever in the forefront of our wish list when a new season comes around and  fresh new iterations capture effortless cool and epitomise versatile day-long style all at once.

Made from super-stretch denim that’s focussed on comfort and recovery, the dark indigo Stevie low-rise skinny jeans are a dressed-up take on a wardrobe classic. Wear them with a leather biker jacket and heels for a polished combination.

9. Skirt

Arguably the most feminine of all separates, the skirt is a forever wardrobe hero. From statement textured designs to minimalistic pencil skirts, there’s a style for every day of the week.

This is my personal favourite this season.

Leather and lace combine to striking effect and the black Riviera pencil skirt is a case in point. The sleek silhouette is trimmed with a floral-inspired panel at the hem, so balance this feminine detail with a sharply tailored blazer.

10.Women’s Scarves

Perhaps the season’s most loved accessory, the scarf is set to be your cold-weather companion. Choose sumptuous cashmere scarves to complement outerwear and decorative silk scarves to offset evening ensembles.

Rich textures are key to capturing the season’s luxe aesthetic and faux fur accessories will tap into the trend in a fashion-forward way. Drape the soft-grey Laska scarf across the shoulders of a cashmere knit by day and a sleek black dress for evening.

I love these faux fur scarves from Reiss this winter. During warner seasons they could be replaced with vibrant silk choice

I would like to also add oversized glasses and the right handbag to the list of  essential:)

I am a big fan of oversized glasses. My favourite bland: Oliver Peoples .

Love, Samira x
